The AASTMT annual career fair
In line with the SGG8 (Decent work and economic growth), as a part of the AASTMT’s role in improving employment and training opportunities for graduates and students, the AASTMT alumni hosts an annual career fair which provides an excellent opportunity for graduates to meet as well as to start networking with a variety of interested human resource professionals and organizations and learn about Career and internship opportunities

International Training at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in England
In line with the AASTMT’s vision to support SDG8 (Decent work and economic growth), the AASTMT ensures that it provides high quality internships for its students. The AASTMT provides an opportunity for its students to have a training at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN). Uclan university offered training programs that served not only the students of the faculty of Engineering with its different departments such as, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, but also the students of other colleges such as the Faculty of Management and the Faculty of International Transport and Logistics.

Online Training Courses for AASTMT’s students
With the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, the AASTMT ensures that its students have enough practical training and internships in line with the vision of the AASTMT to achieve SDG8. Thus, the AASTMT provided some of online trainings to its students.

The AASTMT participates in Green skills for a sustainable development project (GREENLAND)
In line with AASTMT’s mission to support the development of the economic growth of its local community, the AASTMT participates in the GREENLAND project which is a project funded by ENI CBCMED. This project supports the attainment of SGG8 (Decent work and economic growth).
Summary of the project
The Mediterranean area suffers from extremely high rates of youth and female unemployment. To face this challenge, GREENLAND promotes social inclusion and fight against poverty by providing unskilled and underprivileged young people with marketable skills in the Green and Circular Economy, with the potential to generate thousands of jobs. To reach its objective, the project will create new curricula based on market needs, skills transfer to NEETs and women, media-based training tools, and cultural exchanges among young people. The creation of new employment opportunities will be reinforced by the sector-skills alliances between TVETs and SMEs. The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport as one of the partners in the project works with other partners to achieve the previous objectives.

•1 e-Learning project platform involving 2,900 NEETs and women

•18 job-shadowing for key staff of policy-making institutions
•150 part-time and 150 full-time contracts
•20 social employment initiatives by public institutions and civil society organisations

The AASTMT participates in Progression of Accessibility Centres in higher Education for Students with disabilities in North Africa (PACES)
To support the inclusion of students with special needs in education and the job market in line with AASTMT’s role in adopting SDG8, the AASTMT participates in PACEs project (an Erasmus+ project).

Gender equity in the MENA cities
In line with AASTMT’s support for gender equity as a part of providing a decent workplace, the AASTMT participates in seminars that discussed the gender equity in the MENA cities. These seminars discussed women’s rights within different subjects and addressed various domains that are of close relationship with women’s rights and go beyond the three parameters of the United Nations’ Gender Inequality Index (GII) health, empowerment and labor market.  These seminars are in support of the AASTMT for SDG8 (Decent work and economic growth).
