MOU with TFC

The UPGRADE project team at AASTMT has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Transport for Cairo.

This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) sets for the terms and understanding between the
AASTMT coordinator of UPGRADE Erasmus+ co-funded project and Transport for Cairo to
regenerate urban planning and develop sustainable urban mobility in MENA cities.

The purpose of this MOU is to promote the optimization of existing transport systems in MENA area, by reducing automobile dependency, and developing flexible and sustainable mobility
solutions.

Statement of Mutual Interests and Benefits:
UPGRADE is a multi-country project for Egypt and Lebanon. It addresses the challenge of urban
mobility and its availability, by directing the development of higher education, research and
business sector to serve the needs of unprivileged minorities in the South-Mediterranean region.
This MOU is established between UPGRADE AASTMT team and Transport for Cairo to help
each other accomplish mutually beneficial objectives:

A. Promote sustainable urban and transportation planning.
B. Address urban planning and urban mobility challenges faced by an unprivileged fraction
of the population in emerging cities.

C. Encourage students to learn through handling a real-life case study, and dealing with real-
life challenges.

D. Assist students to develop innovative urban mobility solutions.
The above goals will be accomplished by undertaking the following activities:

UPGRADE AASTMT team shall:
1. Promote Transport for Cairo as a business sector through its website and social media
accounts.
2. Include Transport for Cairo in their outreach materials such as brochures, banners,
newsletters, posters, rollups, displays.
3. Share the data collected by students throughout the course of the project.
4. Provide support at Transport for Cairo dissemination activities.
5. Invite Transport for Cairo in the project dissemination activities such as workshops, visits
and the final International Conference.
6. Lab equipment shall be available for Transport for Cairo team, when possible, and after
acquiring the necessary approval documents.


Transport for Cairo shall:
1. Include UPGRADE AASTMT team in their promotional materials (website and social
media accounts).
2. Assist students in developing innovative urban mobility solutions, which will help
overcome the identified urban mobility challenges.
3. Invite UPGRADE AASTMT team in their dissemination activities.
4. Participating in project dissemination activities such as workshops, visits and final
International Conference.
Funding
This MOU is not a commitment of funds.
Duration
This MOU is at-will and may be modified by mutual consent of authorized officials. This MOU
shall become effective upon signature by the authorized officials and will remain in effect until
modified or terminated by any one of the partners by mutual consent.

About Us

UPGRADE is an Erasmus+ Joint Regional Project, aimed Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education. It aims at reinforcing the links between the research and education sector and the business sector within the society at large. The project employs multidisciplinary education and research in order to identify and address key urban planning and mobility challenges faced by an unprivileged sector of the society through presenting innovative urban planning and mobility solutions.
