2022-2023

AASTMT is dedicated to supporting students with disabilities (SwD) by providing comprehensive services, including accessibility information, accommodations, and auxiliary aids. The institution ensures equal opportunity and inclusivity, implementing reasonable adjustments to enable SwD to fully participate in academic, cultural, and social activities. Students are encouraged to disclose their disabilities to facilitate timely and effective support, ensuring their needs are met throughout their educational journey.

Support services for mental health conditions

AASTMT provides professional assistance to individuals facing emotional, psychological, or mental health challenges. The Health and Wellbeing team, which includes Welfare and Disabilities Advisers, as well as Counselling and Mental Health staff, collaborates closely to support students dealing with significant and enduring mental health issues classified as disabilities. These support services are part of the Accessibility Centre within the Deanery of Student Affairs.

Dedicated academic support for students with learning disabilities

AASTMT provides dedicated student counseling services through the Deanery of Student Affairs, focusing on enhancing learning and adaptive skills while addressing psychological and communication challenges. These services support students facing academic difficulties due to issues like anxiety, depression, phobias, or maladaptive behaviors. Offered in a confidential environment, the counseling targets students with learning disabilities and those referred by faculty or staff, ensuring they receive specialized assistance to overcome personal challenges and achieve academic success.

AASTMT Students Counselling

The scope of Student Counseling encompasses individual therapy sessions tailored to meet each student's skills and needs, as well as group awareness sessions and open discussions on various topics related to moods, habits, stress, family dynamics, social interactions, communication patterns, motivation, planning, and other relevant issues. Additionally, students are also referred to by peers who have had positive experiences with the counseling services provided by the Deanery of Student Affairs.

Medical Services

AASTMT operates a medical clinic that provides a wide range of services to all its students, faculty members, and staff. The clinic is staffed by a team of experienced doctors and nurses who provide care in a variety of specialties.

Services offered by the AASTMT clinic include:

  • General medical consultations

  • Gynecological and obstetric care
  • Dermatology
  • Ear, nose, and throat (ENT) care
  • Internal medicine
  • Cardiovascular care
  • Emergency care

The clinic has a pharmacy and a laboratory that provide a variety of services, including medication dispensing, blood tests, and X-rays. The AASTMT clinic is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students, faculty, and staff can make appointments by calling the clinic directly or by using the online reservation system.

Transportation Service

AASTMT provides a comprehensive transportation service for its students and staff. This service includes a fleet of buses that connect the AASTMT campuses in Alexandria, El Alamein, Port Said, and the Smart Village.

Bus Service: The AASTMT bus service operates from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM, providing frequent trips between the campuses and major student housing areas. The buses are fully air-conditioned and equipped with GPS tracking, ensuring that students can always track the location of their bus. In addition to the bus service, it also provides a shuttle service for students with disabilities. The shuttle service is available to students who live within a 5-kilometer radius of the campus. The AASTMT has a partnership with Uber to provide students with discounted fares. Students can use the code "AASTMT10" to get 10% off their Uber rides.

Parking: campuses have ample parking for students and staff. Parking is free for students and staff with a valid ID card.

Accessibility: AASTMT is committed to providing accessible transportation for all students and staff. The bus service is accessible to passengers with disabilities, and the campuses have ramps and elevators for people who use wheelchairs.

AASTMT provides services for the student with disability, (SwD), include information on accessibility, identification of accommodations, the filing of medical reports, and liaison with faculty and staff in establishing accommodations and the provision of auxiliary aids when required. AASTMT is committed to a policy of equality of opportunities and access and recognizes that disabled students have an equal right of participation in higher education. AASTMT will make reasonable adjustments, including anticipatory ones, where necessary and feasible to facilitate this. All disabled students should be able to participate fully as far as reasonably practical in the full range of academic, cultural and social activities available within the Academy campus life. Students will be urged to disclose their disabilities on application and throughout their student life to facilitate appropriate support. It is important to note that individual students have a responsibility to provide all necessary information in order that support can be provided in a timely and appropriate manner.
