Prof. Dr. Aly Fahmy serves as a professor of Artificial Intelligence at both the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport and the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence at Cairo University. With a solid foundation in Artificial Intelligence, particularly Mathematical Logic, his research interests span diverse fields such as Data and Text Mining, Machine Learning, Logic Programming, Fuzzy Logic, Computational Linguistics, and the integration of Neural Networks with Symbolic Logic. Dr. Fahmy's current research focuses on Large Language Models (LLMs) and their applications in enhancing education and conversational systems.

He is also actively working on Agentic AI, with a focus on the Domain Specialization of Large Language Models. His ongoing projects address key challenges of LLMs, explore the role of convolutional and transformer neural networks in differentiating breast lesions through contrast-enhanced spectral mammography, examine mispronunciation detection techniques, and advance question generation and answering systems using common sense reasoning. He earned his undergraduate degree in 1972 from the Computer Engineering Department of the Military Technical College (M.T.C) in Cairo, Egypt. He obtained an MSc in 1976 from the Centre of Research and Studies in Toulouse, France (C.E.R.T), and completed his PhD in 1979 in Artificial Intelligence, specializing in the Control of Automatic Deductions for Logic-Based Systems, at the same institution. Dr. Fahmy's professional experience includes developing large-scale real time software systems at Litton Data System in Los Angeles, USA, and working on expert systems using the Knowledge Engineering Environment System (KEE) at IntelliCorp in Munich, Germany. In addition to his academic endeavors, Dr. Fahmy has significantly contributed to applied research. He has served as the Principal Investigator for the Theses Mining Project at Cairo University, Head of the Administration Council of the Arabic Language Technology Center (ALTEC), and Principal Investigator for both the Egyptian Center of Excellence for Data Mining and Computer Modeling and the "Artificial Tutoring System for Teaching Arabic Handwriting" project.
