Dina Farms Visit
The Academy is keen to achieve its vision of global excellence in education through diverse higher education methods, high-quality academic content, and effective practical application mechanisms, enabling Academy students to acquire scientific and practical skills and gain firsthand insight into actual practices in the labor market.
Given that the College of Management and Technology – Alexandria branch – has received international academic accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in the United States, and its continuous commitment to achieving excellence and competitive advantages for graduates in the global labor market, along with its ongoing focus on partnerships with industry and providing students with numerous opportunities for early exposure to real-life work environments, and in line with the constant emphasis of the Academy's President on the importance of linking curricula to practical applications and the labor market, the College of Management and Technology – Alexandria branch – organized an outstanding scientific trip to the Investment Dairy Products Company (Dina Farms) on the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
The trip was under the patronage of:
- Professor Dr. Ashraf Adel Labib, Dean of the College of Management and Technology – Alexandria branch.
- Professor Dr. Mohamed Aboul Azm, Dean of Student Affairs, Alexandria branch.
- Professor Dr. Ahmed Moussa El-Samadissy, Vice Dean for Education Affairs.
- Professor Dr. Sherif Hassan, Vice Dean for Student Affairs.
- Professor Dr. Ayman Hassan Metwally, Head of the Department of Marketing and International Business.
Special thanks were extended to Dr. Safaa Allam for her efforts through the Cultural Activities Office at the College of Management and Technology – Alexandria branch.
The visit was organized under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud El-Beshbishy, from the Department of Marketing and International Business. Students from the department participated in this trip. It is noteworthy that the Investment Dairy Products Company (Dina Farms) is one of the leading companies in the field of dairy and beverage products in Egypt.
During the visit, Assistant Lecturer and member of the Board of Industry Leaders, Dr. Mahmoud El-Beshbishy, provided explanations connecting the company’s production stages with the academic curriculum, as part of the practical application of the academic subjects. He also assigned the students a research project based on their observations during the visit.
The students witnessed all stages of production, from the raw materials used to the production process, transportation, storage, and the final product, as well as the shipping methods to reach customers in various countries and the marketing strategies employed. The visit began with a warm reception followed by a breakfast of Dina Farms' products. Afterward, the students toured the factories and farms, learning about the livestock production cycle and modern irrigation systems at the farm. The students expressed great happiness and enjoyed the practical aspect of the visit, linking it to their curriculum.
Discussions were held about key policies and quality systems applied in the labor market at both the local and global levels, with all questions and student inquiries about aligning academic learning with practical applications in the labor market answered.
Finally, the College of Management and Technology – Alexandria branch – under the leadership of Professor Dr. Ashraf Adel Labib at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, one of the specialized organizations of the Arab League, extends its highest regards to all engineers and staff at Dina Farms for their warm reception and facilitation of this visit, which serves as a promising start for enlightened leadership.
Additionally, the visit provided an opportunity to encourage local farmers and food producers to engage with students, facilitating the exchange of essential knowledge on food security. The importance of purchasing products from local and sustainable sources was highlighted, deepening students' awareness of the role of land management, crop techniques, and agribusiness operations in ensuring food security. During the tour, students gained insights into how organic farming practices and nutrition-focused methods employed by farmers contribute to promoting a healthy and sustainable food system. This hands-on experience underscored the crucial role the local agricultural sector plays in supporting economic stability and public health.
