On August 23, 2023, Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), hosted a delegation from the Arab Union for Sustainable Development and Environment at the Academy’s headquarters in Abu Qir. The meeting brought together senior officials from both AASTMT and the Union to discuss collaboration on research and training focused on environmental conservation and sustainable development in the Arab region, aligning with the principles of SDG 15. The Arab Union, an international non-governmental organization operating under the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the importance of joint Arab action in promoting biodiversity conservation and ecosystem management.

During the workshop activities, some topics were discussed that will be addressed at the United Nations Ocean Conference scheduled to be held in Nice, France, in 2025.
