AASTMT implements an integrated organic waste management system across its campuses through waste segregation, recycling, reuse, and environmentally responsible treatment methods. Organic waste generated from cafeterias, restaurants, landscaping activities, and campus maintenance operations includes food waste, leaves, and green waste materials.
The Academy applies several sustainability initiatives to reduce organic waste generation, including:
Organic waste is managed within the overall campus waste management system through segregation, treatment, reuse, and sustainable recovery practices.
The Academy's Consumption & Recycling Policy, Landfill and Waste Disposal Policy, and Disposable and Plastic Reduction Policies collectively support organic waste treatment procedures, recycling and recovery practices, and sustainable waste disposal strategies.
The Academy's integrated waste management system incorporates both approaches through composting (downcycling to soil amendments) and production of highvalue organic fertilizers and peat moss (upcycling).

The recycled products are utilized across campus for fertilizing palm trees, lawns, and various landscaping applications, contributing to the Academy's green campus initiatives and demonstrating the practical viability of organic waste recycling. These outputs represent a significant portion of the organic waste treatment reported above, with leaf and garden waste (20 tons) and a substantial share of food waste (15 tons) being transformed into peat moss and compost products.
