Supporting the Egyptian Policy Makers Policy

Policy Purpose

This policy shows how AASTMT supports stakeholder engagement with the Policy Makers in the Egyptian Government, especially through scientific research for balanced access to justice and the promotion of political and human rights.

Policy Statement

Academic evidence and expertise can inform and improve government policy, but many academics find it difficult to contribute to policy-making. AASTMT shall support the Egyptian policy makers and authorities through scientific research, facilitating public engagement and a participatory approach for better governance.

Policy Scope

  • AASTMT Researchers
  • Egyptian Governmental Policy Makers and Law Makers Authorities

Policy Description

AASTMT considers that supporting the policy makers in the Egyptian Government is one of its important priorities, especially through research and its’ researchers. AASTMT facilitates collaborative decision-making and civic engagement between researchers and national policymakers, establishing mechanisms for stakeholder engagement to support research uptake for the benefit of public policy design, delivery, and evaluation.

AASTMT can provide this support in diverse ways, by:

  • Ensuring that their research and expertise are easily accessible for policy makers online, enhancing freedom of information
  • Creating a matchmaking tool for policy makers and academic researchers to foster collaborative decision-making
  • Facilitating the engagement and communication of its researchers with Egyptian policymakers to promote public participation.
  • Providing training on engaging with policymaking, focusing on participatory approaches and mentoring by more experienced academics.
  • Funding policy-making training programs for its researchers to ensure effective civic engagement.
  • Delivering targeted seminars and workshops on skills for effective policy engagement that address corruption and maltreatment in governance.
  • Facilitating diverse communication systems between policy makers and academic researchers to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • By prioritizing stakeholder engagement, AASTMT aims to strengthen the rule of law and promote effective policies that protect human rights in Egypt.
