Upcoming AquaVET Staff Training at IZSVe (Legnaro, Italy) | 23–27 February 2026

As part of AquaVET’s capacity-building activities, the consortium will hold an intensive Staff Training week hosted by Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe) in Legnaro (PD), Italy, from 23–27 February 2026.

The training programme combines expert-led sessions and practical components focused on aquatic animal health, diagnostics, and aquaculture systems. Topics include aquaculture production in the EU and Italy, main viral, bacterial, parasitic and mollusc diseases, hands-on training in virology, bacteriology and zoonotic parasites, as well as applied sessions on fish vaccination and therapy, fish products inspection and control, fish species identification, and histamine and contaminants in fishery products.

Field-based learning is also included through a full-day field visit to trout and catfish farmings, alongside sessions on fish welfare and GIS in aquaculture farming. The week concludes with an achievement and feedback questionnaire, a visit to the IZSVe experimental aquarium, and final remarks.

This training supports AquaVET’s broader mission of strengthening competencies and cooperation across partner institutions, while contributing to the visibility of project activities under WP4 dissemination and outreach.

AquaVET Second In-Person Meeting Held in Dubrovnik, Croatia (8–10 September 2025)

The AquaVET consortium held its Second In-Person Meeting in Dubrovnik, Croatia, hosted by the University of Dubrovnik, with meeting activities scheduled around 8–10 September 2025 (agenda timeframe indicated as 07–10/09/2025).

The meeting focused on strengthening project implementation by reviewing pending deliverables and agreeing on corrective actions, confirming the timeline and responsibilities for upcoming deliverables, and advancing academic planning through discussion of the core teaching material (planned teaching modules and materials).

A major operational component was partner alignment on required equipment, including technical specifications, procurement status, and partner responsibilities. The programme also included a dedicated site visit to facilities relevant to AquaVET implementation (teaching labs, aquaculture units, ICT infrastructure), followed by a reflection session to capture partner feedback and identify gaps.

The meeting concluded with consensus-building sessions to approve the needed equipment, develop a consolidated action plan, and formalize decisions through Steering Committee sign-off, followed by certificates of participation.

AquaVET Consortium Holds Second In-Person Meeting at AASTMT El-Alamein Campus (13–15 July 2025)

AquaVET Consortium Holds Second In-Person Meeting at AASTMT El-Alamein Campus (13–15 July 2025)

The AquaVET consortium held its Second In-Person Meeting from 13–15 July 2025 at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), El-Alamein Campus, Egypt, in a hybrid format to ensure inclusive participation across partners. The meeting focused on initiating the implementation phase and aligning the consortium on work packages (WPs), deliverables, roles, and timelines.

Over three days, partners reviewed progress and implementation requirements across the project’s work packages: WP1 (Preparation), WP2 (Development), and WP3 (Quality Control) on Day 1, followed by dedicated sessions on WP4 (Dissemination & Exploitation) and WP5 (Management) on Day 2, including financial management/reporting, implementation planning (2025–2026), and coordination tools. Day 3 included a site visit to AASTMT facilities, strengthening shared understanding of the infrastructure supporting project implementation and future activities.

A key highlight of the meeting was the WP4 session led by AASTMT, where partners discussed dissemination strategy, website updates, and outreach planning. The consortium agreed that each partner will organize at least one local dissemination event, and partners will develop localized media kits to support coherent outreach in each country.

Participation format (by institution):
