AccessAbilities Expo for People of Determination, 15-17 November 2022
Within the framework of the "Living Independently" initiative organized by the social sector The Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs.
Upon the approval and support of his excellency Prof. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Arab Academy of Sciences, Technology and Maritime Transport Prof. Mohamed Etman, Professor of Pharmaceutics, participated in the EXPO with the delegation from Academy on behalf of Prof. Dr. Evan Saad, Dean of the College.
On the sidelines of the exhibition several lectures, workshops and events took place on all the aspects that can facilitate the independence of the people of determination and all obstacles that hinder their integration within the society, while providing opportunities for mobility, work and tourism for this segment of society.
Many delegations from all countries of the world participated in the conference, and it was held under the auspices of the Arab League, where His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the Arab League Her Excellency Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary General Dr. Nevin Al-Qabbaj, Minister of Solidarity from Egypt, and Dr. Khaled Hanafi, President of the Federation of Arab Chambers of Commerce. All that was done under the auspices of the United Arab Emirates, which was represented by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
The academy delegation included Prof. Dr. Wael El-Desouki, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, Prof. Dr. Amira Senbel, Dean of Abu Qir college of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Sarah El-Gazzar, Dean of the College of International Transport and Logistics, Prof. Dr. Rasha Abdel Aziz, Head of Business Information Systems Department, Prof. Dr. Dalia Amara, Assistant President of the Academy for Tourism Studies, and Dr. Ahmed Hassan from the Department of Business Information Systems. The academy delegation proposed many modes which contribute to achieving the independence of living for people of determination and reduces their dependence on others, such as programs and applications dealing with banks without the need for an intermediary or agent training medical-sector students on the virtual patient simulator for offsite training from the hospital in cases of temporary disability such as accidents other options like the wheelchair that moves in different directions according to the head tilting movements.
The Academy delegation won an award presented by the Secretary-General of the Arab League for the program dealing with banks.
