Architectural Engineering and Environmental Design department will organize a new public lecture entitled `Regenerating Built Environment: Sustaining and Restoring our Current Resources` by Architect and Regenerative Practitioner Eman Sabour on the 2nd of January 2022.
Looking at our current practices in developing our built environment, we can clearly witness the increasing pressure on our ecosystems and the imbalanced sprawling that is negatively impacting the wellbeing of people and planet. For the past 3 decades there has been an increasing uptake on sustainable development and sustainability principles at large but still even with the evolution of carbon neutral and net zero targets, we are still missing means to account for the historical deterioration of our ecosystems. The current urgency is to proactively engage with our nested ecosystems and built environment beyond just sustaining our current resources into restoring and regenerating them.
The session will provide a quick overview on the regenerative development and a couple of its emerging applications. The session will open up a discussion into means of evolving our current practices towards regenerative design.
The lecture will be held both in the second floor conference room of the AAST Smart Village campus.
