Visit of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMSA)delegation from 21-24 January, 2009

The visit aimed at strengthening collaboration between Nigeria represented by the (NIMSA) with the Academy, as the Academy is the home of distinctive experience in the field of Maritime Transport, which will help fulfill the shortfall in Maritime human resources in Nigeria as well as upgrading the existing staff. The Academy welcomed the thought of this and stated that the cooperation and support for African countries is a priority. The Academy has precedence in training of about 2000 trainees on behalf of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the nineties. The meeting concluded to a memorandum of understanding between both parties through which the Academy will train and certify approximately 100,000 trainee and student.
