Objectives

  • Word Processing is designed to teach you the basic functions of a word processing program as well as teach you to properly format documents such as letters and memoranda., many of the skills you will obtain are generic and can be transferred to most word processing packages. Students create professional spreadsheets and presentations using specialized software. Students produce and edit spreadsheets of varying complexity by entering and editing data, building formulas,and enhancing spreadsheets. Students become proficient in using a spreadsheet application to format, organize, analyze, and present information. Students plan, create, and revise electronic presentations. Presentations are enhanced by formatting slides using design templates, styles, bullets and numbering, headers and footers,and speaker's notes. At the end of this course, the learner will have demonstrated the ability to: Apply a variety of resources and methods to learn word processing software functions. Use accepted terminology for word processing functions and hardware components. Transfer knowledge and skills to other computer programs. Produce finished documents in accordance with business standards for timely completion, correctness of content and format, professional appearance, and creativity. Accept responsibility for own file maintenance: logical use of directories, backup and safe storage proceduresProduce basic spreadsheets with simple formulas. Prepare charts, web pages, and workbooks with multiple spreadsheets. Apply advanced formatting features such as alignment, fonts, styles, templates, graphic images, WordArt, maps, and borders. Compose simple to advanced formulas using mathematical operators or functions. Differentiate between absolute, relative, and mixed call references.
