Objectives

• An English speaking course is in essence one where the overriding objective is toimprove the fluency and confidence of the trainee when speaking English, and soimprove the ability of the trainee to communicate effectively in English. In this 30-hour course, students will practice speaking skills necessary for maintainingconversations and participating in discussions. Practice will include effectivequestioning and requesting, giving opinions, asking for clarification, and offeringsuggestions. The course will cover many facets like active vocabulary and grammardevelopment, pronunciation, intonation, turn-taking, conversational gambits andmany others. The aim of this course is to maximize the amount of trainee speakingtime through group and pair work. This course will contribute in encouraging Englishspeaking by engaging the trainees and getting them to actively want to contribute toclassroom debates and discussions in order to communicate effectively in thebusiness world.

Outcomes

 Participate more confidently in formal and informal conversations.  Understand the importance of non-verbal communication.  Use common phrases in conversations.  Question, state opinions, ask for clarification & offer suggestions effectively.  Participate in academic discussions with confidence.  Express themselves confidently in English.  Communicate in English in a wide range of life and business situations.  Develop their communication skills needed to succeed in business.  Increase their career prospects.
