This course aims at teaching the fundamentals and basics of bioinformatics that leads to a better understanding of computer applications in biology.

Course Contents

Students will get practical and extensive hands-on experience on analyzing DNA and protein sequences to obtain similarity scores, apply Pairwise and multiple sequences alignments using BLAST programs. Students will be developing their own research projects, interpreting the obtained results, writing a manuscript, and scientifically discussing the results. In this course we will also teach UNIX commands for bioinformatics data analysis.
