Objectives
- This course aims to provide the training candidates to provide medical care to the sick and injured while they remain on board ship, in accordance with Section A-VI/4 of the STCW Code
Outcomes
This course covers the requirements of the 1995 Convention Chapter VI, Section A-VI/4-2. On meeting the minimum standard of competence in medical care, a trainee will be competent to participate effectively in coordinated schemes for medical assistance on ships at sea and to provide the sick or injured with a satisfactory standard of medical care while they remain on board.

Care of Causalities (continued)- Aspects of Nursing - Diseases. Diseases (continued)- Alcohol and Drug Abuse. Dental Care – Gynecology and Pregnancy – Medical care of Rescued persons.Death at sea – Environmental control on board ship – Disease Prevention – Keeping of Records. Medicines and medical Equipment (continued)- Surgical Equipment, Instruments and Supplies.
