Objectives

• This course is intended to give theoretical knowledge and practical skills sufficient to maintenance engineers and GMDSS operators who are required to provide maintenance on the radio equipment.

Outcomes

After attending the GMDSS equipment maintenance course (Level II), the participant will be able to trace and troubleshoot the basic electronic circuits of the GMDSS equipment hands-on the real GMDSS consol.

1. Introduction to the GMDSS system.2. Effect of electromagnetic waves on health and safety3. Fundamentals of electronic components and circuits.4. Measurement instruments.5. Basic electronic circuits design and measurements.6. Introduction to analog and digital communication.7. Modulation techniques.8. Types of Filters and oscillators.9. Electronic circuits tracing.10. Software maintenance.11. Application of Radio circuit (AM Transmitter).12. Antenna types and feed lines.13. GMDSS console error codes, power supply test and fault detection.14. Revision and exam.This course contents are according to “ FCC – STCW Sec. A-III/1 , Sec. A-III/2”
