Objectives

• This course is intended to give basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills sufficient to maintenance technicians, GMDSS operators who are required to provide basic maintenance on the radio equipment.

Outcomes

After attending the GMDSS equipment maintenance course ( Level I), the participant will be able to trace and troubleshoot the basic electronic circuits of the GMDSS equipment hands-on the real GMDSS consol.

1. Introduction to the GMDSS system.2. Fundamentals of electronic components and circuits.3. Basic electronic circuit design and measurements.4. Measurement instruments.5. Introduction to analog and digital communication.6. Modulation technique.7. Filters, Amplifiers and oscillators.8. Electronic circuits block diagram reading and tracing.9. Antenna types and feed lines.10. Battery types, connections and maintenance.11. GMDSS console connections, error codes and power supply test.12. Health and safety and avoidance of electrical hazards.13. Fault finding in GMDSS station.14. Revision and Exam.This course contents are according to “ FCC – STCW Sec. A-III/1 , Sec. A-III/2”
