Objectives

  • The trainee will be able to:To develop student competence to take charge of cargo operations. - To enhance the student familiarity with routine cargo operations to develop student ability to identify and deal with malfunctions. - The course apply to STCW 78 as amended requirements of Reg. V/1-2 paragraph 1 The trainee will be able to take immediate responsibility for loading, discharging and care in handling of cargo and chemical tanker.

Outcomes

This course present training for officers & ratings and any person with immediate responsibility for loading, unloading care in transit, handling of Liquefied gases or other cargo related operations on Gas Carriers. To develop student competence to take charge of cargo operations. Moreover to enhance the student familiarity with routine cargo operations to develop student ability to identify and deal with malfunctions. - The course apply to STCW 78 as amended requirements of Reg. V/1-2 paragraph 1

Hazards associated with tanker operations 7. Hazard controls 8. Information on a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)9. Function and proper use of gas measuring instruments and similar equipment 10. Proper use of safety equipment and protective devices 11. Safe working practices and procedures 12. First aid with reference to a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)13. Fire safety and fire – fighting operations Emergency procedures including emergency shutdown14. Effects of pollution on human and marine life 15. Shipboard procedures to prevent pollution16.
