Objectives

  • By the end of the course the trainee should have acquired a thorough knowledge of the practical aspects of DP operations. He should be capable of planning and conducting any DP operation, including risk assessment, contingency planning and assessment of vessel capability. He should be able to undertake the operation with due regard to all circumstances of seamanship and operational requirements. He should also be able to react correctly to any circumstances which could lead to catastrophic failure or which constitute catastrophic failure itself

Outcomes

the trainee should also be able to maintain positioning in different position as automatic control and joystick according to the different external situation

Course Contents

1. Construction and use of work site diagrams, charts and vessel templates for use in DP operations. 2. Planning & execution of DP operations, contingency plans for expected deviations emergencies 3. New development in DP systems including position reference systems and control systems. 4. Analysis of DP incidents. 5. Realistic Simulator Exercises involving various types of DP Operations. 6. Competence in a variety of scenarios using a DPS simulator including the handling of emergency situations resulting from system failures in addition to normal operations
