Objectives

  • Developing capacities of marine operation managers and superintendents of navigation companies who are responsible for fleet operation and casualty investigation for the sake of maritime safety enhancement and marine pollution prevention in addition to preserving marine assets.

Outcomes

On completion of the program, attendees will gain and understand: - Familiarity with seaworthiness technical requirements. - Adequate awareness of ship hire contracts and the terms of sales contracts. - Legal obligations of casualty safety investigation Identify accident causation and casual factors of the marine accident. - Reporting techniques required for enhancement of marine safety, pollution prevention and preserving of assets.

Course Contents

A three-day program activities is delivered for marine superintendents, which includes discussion of the following topics: - Illustration of bodies entrusted with setting standards and requirements for operating ships at the international and local levels. - Studying of the general features of the various contracts for operating and hiring ships.- Presenting the technical details necessary to raise the level of technical performance of ships and the periodic maintenance necessary to fulfil the requirements of operating contracts. - Illustrating of investigating marine accidents related to international obligations. - Interpretation of the provisions of the Code of Marine Casualty Investigations and the directives that assist investigators to perform their tasks. - Analyzing the human factor in marine accidents. - Show how to benefit from marine accident analysis to improve marine safety, protect the environment from pollution, and preserve property.
