Objectives

  • The IMO compound Capacity Building Program (CBP) 'Introduction to Marine Biofouling: Impacts and Management of Risks' provides a detailed introduction to the multiple aspects related to marine biofouling, its role as a vector for the introduction of invasive aquatic species and the management solutions and technologies that are available.

Outcomes

At the end of the Capacity Building Program, participants will be familiar with: Factors Influencing Biofouling,Operational and environmental benefits of biofouling management,Preventive Practices,Reactive practices,The IMO Biofouling Guidelines, andNational Legislations and Requirements.

Course Contents

The CBP is designed to cover the fundamentals of biofouling management related issues in a number of themes delivered by an approved trainer. The CBP is designed to be applicable either on-site classroom delivery or for online (distance) delivery via online tools such as Zoom, Teams, Meet or similar. The CBP is designed to be delivered over two days, e.g. morning or afternoon sessions. The course programme comprises primarily several live presentations interspersed with recorded video snippets, live questions and answers (Q&A) sessions and interactive polls (or quizzes) at selected timeslots. The CBP participants will receive PDF version of the participant manual.
