Objectives

• CBP provides a detailed training on safety management systems audit and DPA role.

Outcomes

This Capacity Building Program includes detailed training on the necessary auditing of safety management systems to verify compliance with the ISM Code requirements and the effective application.At the end of the program, trainees will be acquainted with the following:- Importance and requirements of the ISM Code,- Interpretation of mandatory rules and regulations in the Code,- The basis and need for implementing safety management systems to manage all identified risks.- The role, responsibilities and authority of the DPA,- The importance of effective communication with ship personnel and highest levels of management,- Auditing principles and practices for compliance with the requirements of the ISM Code,- Identifying points of non-conformities and ensuring effective and timely handling of them.- Requirements for dealing with accidents and hazard occurrences, reporting requirements and corrective actions.- Procedures, requirements and certification bodies and consequences of cybersecu

Course Contents

This program develops practical application capabilities to provide the Designated Person Ashore (DPA) with the sufficient knowledge and skills to audit maritime safety management systems of companies operating ships and mobile offshore drilling units, as it includes developments in cybersecurity and the latest requirements of the International Safety Management Code of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
