Objectives

  • The CBP is to identify and implement the important changes of the STCW convention & Code.

Outcomes

At the end of the Capacity Building Program, participants will be able to identify and implement the important changes of the STCW convention & Code including: - Improve measures to prevent fraudulent practices associated with certificates of Competency. - Revised requirements on hours of work & rest. - New Certification requirements for able seafarers. - New requirements relating to ECDIS. - New requirements for marine environment awareness training and training in leadership and teamwork. - New training and certification for electro-technical officers (ETO). - Updating of competence requirements for personnel serving on board all types of tankers.

Course Contents

The safety, and security of life at sea, in addition to protection of the marine environment and over 90% of the world trade depends on the professionalism and competence of seafarers. This Capacity Building Program aims to provide knowledge on the implementation of the requirements of the international convention for training, certification and watch keeping for seafarers (STCW78), as amended in Manila, 2010.
