Location

College of Maritime Transport and Technology

Objectives

  • The courses provide an understanding of how to calculate the quantity of bulk cargoes in a way that helps all participants do the calculations in a correct way and carry out corrections if errors occur. Also; Ships Stability, Draft reading and measuring, displacement correction and loading zones.

Outcomes

At The End of the Module Students should be able to calculate Cargo Loaded/ Discharged, ship constant, Ship displacement and deadweight. Also, will be able to stand on solid ground ahead to draft surveyor in any vague aspects relative to the procedures of draft survey. It is strongly recommended that students spend as much time as possible with an experienced surveyor in order to become familiar with the practical aspects of reading draughts, sounding tanks, understanding the large variety of hydrostatic particulars and many other aspects of the procedure.

Course Contents

• Introduction about bulk carrier ships• Bulk cargoes quantity calculation • Draft reading and measuring• Draft marks correction to perpendiculars• First trim correction, second trim correction and List correction• Deformation correction (hog & sag)• Density correction• Mean of mean draft• Explain how to fill the different bulk calculation and draft survey formula.• Bulk cargo and draft survey codes
