Objectives

• The purpose of this course is to assist verifiers of the Energy Efficiency Management of ships in accordance with the related Regulations of MARPOL Annex VI, and assist ship owners, shipbuilders, manufacturers and other interested parties in understanding the procedures for the survey and certification of the Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan and Ship Energy Efficiency Design Index.

Outcomes

On completion of training, trainees will have sufficient knowledge and understanding regarding the Ship Energy Efficiency Management to be able to:• Identify the origins of the issues related to air pollution;• Describe the issue of Greenhouse Gas (GHG);• Identify the main International Maritime Organization (IMO) Instruments to address the issue of Ship Energy Efficiency Management• Identify the basic concept of SEEMP• Identify a mechanism to be established for a company and/or a ship to improve the energy efficiency of a ship’s operation
