Objectives

  • This course aims to provide a theoretical framework for considering corporate finance problems and issues and to apply these concepts in practice. In this course, learners will enhance their knowledge and understanding of financial management. Through class discussion, informal study groups, and formal group projects they will enhance their communication and collaboration skills. learners will learn how managers should organize their financial transactions effectively and with integrity. Finally, financial markets are globally integrated and the course will discuss many cases and examples involving international companies, giving them a global perspective on financial management.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the learners will be able to:• Measure risk and return and explain the trade-off between risk and return • Calculate the value of various financial assets annuities, bonds, stocks, and retirement savings • List the primary sources of capital and incorporate their cost when making investment decisions. a) debt b) preferred stock c) common stock• Estimate project cash flows to distinguish between value-creating and value destroying investments. • Estimate cash flows from a project, including operating, net working capital, and capital spending.• Estimate the required return on projects of differing risk and how to use the required return in evaluating investment decisions.

Course Contents

The course provides the students with the tools and concepts needed to manage an organization financially. Analysis of financial statements, cash flow and financial planning, time value of money, risk and return, interest rates and bond valuation, stock valuation, feasibility studies techniques, leverage and capital structure, and managing current assets and current liabilities will be covered.
