Objectives

  • • Extend students' general vocabulary items and collocations• Develop students' skills of arguing for and against a particular point of view• Exchange, check and confirm accumulated information on familiar routine and non-routine matters• Give detailed accounts of experiences, describing feelings and reactions• Develop students' critical thinking and self-reflection skills

Outcomes

By the end of this course, learners will be able to :Listening:• Practice getting specific information from natural conversations• Understand the information content of the majority of recorded audio materials• Follow documentaries in which visuals and action carry much of the storylineSpeaking• Use expressions of obligation in discussions• Give brief comments on the views of others• Make a complaint• Express and respond to feelings• Summarize and give his or her opinion about a short story, article, talk, discussion interview• Answer straightforward follow up questions ( he/she can ask for repetition)• Explain likes or dislikes about something • Give a short, rehearsed presentation on familiar subjects• Use new vocabulary in a survey to give reasons to complete an article
