Objectives

  • Develop students’ key speaking skills including pronoun reference, inference and deduction through a variety of challenging speaking activities.- Develop students' speaking skills in understanding different points of view and reporting information, through analyzing different reading and listening activities.- Build students' self-confidence to help them to participate in various interactive tasks.- Provide students with a glossary of new collocations, terms and vocabulary items.- Provide students with a more sophisticated glossary of expressions and vocabulary items.

Outcomes

By the end of this course, Learners can do the following:Reading and Listening topics:• Listen to some audio materials discussing different issues and being able to answer the questions related to it• Eliminate confusing options from an audio task• Use and understand cleft sentences• Skim for information after being exposed to a variety of reading passages• Recognize the writer's intent to aid understandingWriting and Speaking topics:• Exchange ideas about different kinds of entertainment.• Compare and contrast ideas and come to a conclusion.• Debating in order to present ideas and opinions in a clear and polite way.• Practice Speaking outside the classroom and encourage them to answer the discussion circle on their own.• Use softening language for refusals.
