Objectives

  • • Involving learners in the learning process.• Encouraging a communicative approach to language teaching/learning.• Familiarizing teachers with pair/group work and how to organize it in class.• Encouraging teachers to enhance communication in class via pair-and-group work especially in large classes.• Familiarizing teachers with techniques to design their own tasks and activities. • Identifying purpose for using such tasks e.g. speaking.

Outcomes

By the end of this course, Students will be able to:• Use language for communicative purposes.• Adopt and foster communicative practices. • Adopt the Communicative Approach in teaching.• Enhance learner interaction in class. • Use pair and group work to enhance cooperative learning.• Conduct pair-and-group work properly to enhance participation and learning and foster problem solving and decision makings.• Conduct learner-centred rather than teacher-controlled classes.• Design tasks and activities in more effective ways.• Use such tasks to enhance learning and develop learners’ skills
