Objectives

  • This course is designed to:- Enable learners of English as a second language to speak with near-native fluency. - Acquaints them with all common pronunciation problems and misconceptions about the language. - Helps second language learners replace their traditional approach to studying English with an up-to-date engaging way of acquiring and practicing the language.

Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to: 1. Identify and produce all sounds of the English language; 2. Identify and produce accurate English syllables, stress, rhythm and intonation patterns; 3. Differentiate between the British and the American accents, and speak with a near-native accent; 4. Identify inappropriate pronunciation of English sounds; 5. Address their mispronunciation of English sounds; 6. Adopt aspects of English connected speech; and 7. Apply course content to conversations in formal and informal contexts.
