Objectives

  • • Use pre-writing strategies to plan writing.• Develop coherent content and support with relevant details.• Produce a well-organized academic essay.• Build vocabulary by reading, use sentences to determine meaning and point of view.• Know how to tackle a text and reflect reading experiences in writing and discussion.• Produce appropriate vocabulary and correct word forms.

Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:• Generate ideas from sources to develop content.• Use a variety of accurate sentence structures.• Summarize stories and identify the main parts.• Use grammatical structures accurately.• Write a paragraph with a topic sentence, support, and concluding sentence.• Produce coherent and unified paragraphs with adequate support and detail.• Write an effective introduction and conclusion.• Make inferences and predictions based on information in the text.• Write in complete sentences and write with a central idea organized in a logical sequence using some descriptive words.
