Objectives

  • The course aims at:•Enabling learners to communicate in simple situations, master the basics of English and understand and use basic phrases and expressions.•Enabling learners to communicate in an English-speaking environment.•Providing students with the required knowledge, skills and attitude to express themselves orally using general English.•Providing students with the required knowledge and skills to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.• Expressing him/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.• Using language flexibly and effectively for academic and professional purposes

Outcomes

By the end of this course, students should be able to:• understand and use basic phrases and expressions• introduce themselves and answer basic questions about themselves• interact with English speakers at a basic level.• show awareness of opinions and mood in spoken English.• communicate effectively face-to-face, expressing opinions and presenting arguments.• communicate effectively at a managerial and professional level• participate with confidence in workplace meetings or academic tutorials and seminars• express themselves with a high level of fluency.

Course Contents

This course will use a variety of learning techniques. These include group work discussions and individual assignments that use materials provided by the instructor.
