Objectives

• Reasons for performing RM in infection prevention and control in healthcare including:• To improve clinical practices• To increase safety of patients, healthcare workers and visitors• To reduce rates of healthcare-associated infections (HAI).

Outcomes

Identify the basic concepts of infection control • Identify health care associated infections • Determine the infection control program components and management • Apply the steps of outbreak investigation Recognize surveillance of HAIs and its importance • Identify the standards and additional infection control precautions • Apply the infection control practices in different health care settings • Determine occupational safety • Recognize the relationship between infection control and patient safety • identify the international and national patient safety goals • Apply the different quality improvement tools in patient safety
