Project: EMTrain Increasing Emergency Health and Disaster Training Capacity of South Mediterranean Countries

Abstract

The EMTrain project aims to strengthen Vocational Education and Training (VET) systems in Emergency Health and Disaster Management across South Mediterranean Countries (SMCs), namely Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya.
It focuses on:

  • Designing and implementing new curricula and AI-based digital learning platforms (DigiLabs).
  • Training medical emergency and disaster (MED) professionals and teachers through blended (physical + digital) methods.
  • Enhancing cooperation between EU member states, associate countries, and SMCs to modernize vocational training and lifelong learning.

AASTMT’s Role

AASTMT (Egypt) will lead activities related to Quality Assurance (WP5), contribute to Digital Platform Development, and support the capacity building of MED professionals in Egypt and other SMCs.

Objectives

    1. Exchange experience and knowledge between EU/associate countries and SMCs through training mobilities.
    2. Develop novel curricula and integrate them into AI- and VR-based digital platforms (DigiLabs).
    3. Pilot DigiLabs in three SMC partner institutions.
    4. Create sustainability, quality assurance, and feasibility tools to ensure long-term use of the project results.

    Expected Outputs

    1. 6 Work Packages, 20 Tasks, 28 Deliverables.
    2. 5 project meetings, 1 workshop, 1 international conference, and 2 mobilities.
    3. Creation of Digital Training Labs (DigiLabs) and new curricula in the medical emergency and disaster (MED) sector.
    4. Enhanced professional development of MED teachers and trainers in the SMC region.
