Project: Healthcare Enhancement through Establishment of Biomedical Engineering Technology Centers Health_Tech

Abstract

Healthcare is one of the Sustainable Development Goals that greatly impacts human life and the economy. Biomedical engineers play a crucial role in addressing healthcare challenges through technological innovation. Biomedical engineering education has become essential as countries reinforce their healthcare systems to respond to crises. Globally, biomedical engineering programs are recognized for producing skilled professionals capable of designing and implementing digital healthcare solutions.

In many sectors—including medical instrument manufacturing, maintenance and sales agencies, hospitals, and software development—biomedical engineers are in high demand. However, professionals with both medical and engineering competencies remain scarce in Region (3) countries such as Egypt and Tunisia. This shortage poses barriers to meeting evolving healthcare needs, and limits the integration of advanced technologies in these healthcare systems.

The pioneering HEALTH-TECH project connects global experts to establish a collaborative platform merging medical and engineering principles, particularly in medical devices, instrumentation and imaging, and rehabilitation technologies. It aims to enhance educational programs through modernized teaching and training modules, and workshops that foster a new generation of professionals capable of working seamlessly across disciplines.

Through structured interdisciplinary learning and collaboration, HEALTH-TECH empowers individuals to advance biomedical engineering. The project seeks to build a sustainable talent pipeline between medical practices and engineering innovations in Egypt and Tunisia through strategic partnerships. The project is grounded in technical expertise, development potential, and strong management capabilities, integrating leading medical and engineering institutions in the partner countries to maximize impact.
