Project: Curriculum Development for the Sustainable Blue Economy Study toward the achievement of Ocean Decade in Tunisia, Egypt, and Jordan / BLUE-ERA

Abstract

The project establishes a novel master’s degree in Sustainable Blue Economy across Tunisia, Egypt, and Jordan, with activities over 36 months including gap analysis, lab installation, fieldwork, capacity building, summer/winter schools, and training in EU universities. It aims to use ocean resources sustainably for local growth and employability while preserving ocean ecosystems, strengthening links between academia and labour markets, and ensuring long-term sustainability of the programme.

Objectives

    1. Establish a master’s degree in Sustainable Blue Economy (South Mediterranean).
    2. Modernise curricula and develop new modules (core & electives) with accreditation.
    3. Build interconnected labs and strengthen capacity building (staff & students).
    4. Bridge academia and labour markets to improve employability and entrepreneurship.
    5. Ensure long-term sustainability and post-project continuation.
