Welcome Word

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), Egypt, is honored to host the 10th International conference onf Mobile Mapping Technology (MMT2017),from May 6-8, 2017. The conference will be held at the Conrad Cairo Hotel, on magnificent river Nile. The conference will highlight recent and significant advances in research and development in Mobile Mapping Technology.

The conference will also providesa platform for international scholars, graduate students, future scientists and industrial sectors to learn exchangeknowledge and experiences of applying up-to-date mobile mapping technologies for sustainable development. Thanks to the advancement of direct-georeferencing and sensor technologies, mobile mapping has become a versatile technology applied for fast geospatial data acquisition and mega engineering projects. The growing market penetration of mobile mapping, satellite imaging and web GIS has created great research and business opportunities to geospatial communitiesdevelop new technologies for smart cities and better quality of life for people around the wrold.

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Cairo a vibrant, exhilarating, exotic, fascinating and welcoming city. Home to the best Pharaonic, Coptic and Islamic sights in Egypt. Cairo is where you never know what incredible, half-forgotten monument you might stumble across while wandering around. Enjoy the Nile view from your hotel room balcony, visit the capital's medieval markets by Khan El-Khalili, or walk down the Nile promenade.

The International conference on Mobile Mapping Technology (MMT) is the premier event being organized jointly by the ISPRS, FIG, IAG, and ICA. MMT offers a great forum for research and development in mobile mapping technology, systems and applications. The advancement of Mobile Mapping technology has attributed to many aspects in Geomatics and our day-to-day life activities. This conference will reflect the core spectrum of the latest developments in mobile mapping technology, ranging from the algorithm research to the system development, from land-based to airborne systems, from direct georeferencing to sensor integration, from mobile data collection to dynamic GIS management. Nearly 22 years ago, the Ohio State University hosted the first International conference on Mobile Mapping systems. At that time, it was very clear that Mobile Mapping had the potential for providing a diversity of services and products to the mapping community. The subsequent International conferences, which took place in Thailand in 1999, Egypt in 2001, China in 2003, Italy in 2007, and Poland in 2011 provided further evidence – the quality and diversity of papers and the number of attendees further proved that Mobile Mapping was an area of research of its own that deserves a separate conference. Since the first meeting in 1995, substantial progress has been made in the area of Mobile Mapping technologies, progress that would not have been anticipated 22 years ago.It is great to see the MMT coming back to Egypt where most probably the first MMT system was developed 1000s years ago!.

Welcome to the MMT’2017 in Cairo, Egypt.
