Objectives

  • The aim of this course is to perform the best practice in handling and Towing Not under command ships The course enables master and pilots to carry out their duties safely and efficiently and provides updating and refreshes trainees to ensure the continuation of their proficiency. Familiarity of handling Not under command ships at different locations: Pilots and Masters will be able to plan berthing, un-berthing and anchoring, towing procedures taking into account the prevailing conditions of wind and tide, inertia and engine limitations and to calculate the wind and current effecting for towing. Pilots and masters will be trained in how to perform risk assessment and passage planning
