Course Outlines:

The training should take into account the level of competence already acquired and build on this to meet the needs of the instructor trainee and the VTS center.
  • Understanding of adult learning techniques taking into account the specific needs of the trainees
  • The tools to develop a detailed VTS center On-the-Job Training programme
  • Have an appropriate level of knowledge & understanding of the competence to be assessed
  • Create, develop and maintain an OJT task book and apply assessment methods
  • Manage the training process to meet the specific needs of individual trainees
  • Maintain accurate records of training and progress to facilitate effective assessment
  • Gain practical operational simulator experience; and practical assessment experience on the particular simulator, under supervision and to satisfaction of an experienced assessor.
  • Review and adapt training programmers to meet new and emerging techniques, technologies.

Objectives

  • On completion of the course, the trainees should have an enough experience and competence to carry out the duties of VTS Instructor. The VTS on-the-job training instructor course covers the knowledge and practical competence required of a trainer delivering on-the-job training at the VTS centre. On completion of this course the student should have the necessary skills to deliver local VTS training at a VTS centre, these include:
    • The development and ongoing evaluation of training programmes.
    • The instructional techniques used to deliver training programmes.
    • The communication skills required to conduct a successful briefing and debriefing.
    • Assessing the performance of a student against the training objectives.
    • Maintaining training records.
