Objectives

  • This course provides an overview of shipboard electrical systems and equipment, emphasizing their configuration, operation, and safety considerations. Students will learn to calculate electrical loads, evaluate AC/DC power distribution, and understand the function of generators, motors, batteries, and emergency systems in marine environments. The course explores advanced topics such as hybrid propulsion, renewable energy integration, cathodic protection, and electrical safety in hazardous areas. Through case studies and presentations, students will be able to assess real-world applications, understand classification standards, and engage with recent developments in automation and hybrid marine power systems.
