Dr. Ahmed Samir is an Associate Professor of Economics and the Founder and Head of the Digital and Sustainable Business Economics Department at the College of Business and Technology, Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), Cairo, an organization affiliated with the League of Arab States. Dr. Samir has more than 20 years of academic and professional experience, with a strong focus on integrating sustainability, digital transformation, and economic development into higher education, research, and policy-oriented practice. He holds a PhD in Economics and Investment from Cardiff Metropolitan University (2021), an MBA in Finance (2008), and a BSc in Business Administration – Finance (2002) from AASTMT. His academic career spans multiple ranks, progressing from Teaching Assistant to Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, and currently Associate Professor. In parallel, he has worked as a sustainability consultant since 2010, contributing to projects related to green economy policies, sustainable finance, and institutional capacity building. Dr. Samir’s research interests include sustainable finance, foreign direct investment (FDI), corporate governance, smart and sustainable cities, sustainable tourism, and economic diplomacy. He has published several peer-reviewed research papers and is actively working on linking applied economic research with sustainability theories and real-world policy implications. In addition to teaching and research, Dr. Samir is actively engaged in program development, curriculum design, academic–industry partnerships, and professional training. He has organized and led conferences, workshops, and training programs focused on the green economy, digital transformation, and sustainable development, and has contributed to the training of faculty members and professionals in sustainability-related fields. Dr. Samir is fluent in Arabic (native) and English (full professional proficiency) and continues to play a leading role in advancing innovative, sustainability-driven education and research within the Arab region.
