Chief Eng. Loay M. Aboud is a Senior Maritime Lecturer at the Marine Engineering Technology Department, College of Maritime Transport and Technology, Arab Academy for Science & Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT). He obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the Marine Engineering Department, AASTMT, Alexandria, Egypt. Currently, he is involved in a Ph.D. program. He has more than 15 years of experience in the maritime industry. He worked at the Bureau Veritas Classification Society as a Marine Surveyor; and as a Barge Master on Jack-up rigs at Shelf Drilling Company; besides his experiences onboard merchant ships. His research area focuses on green energy studies such as biofuel and the utilization of renewable resources to enhance the environmental aspects in the maritime industry; in addition to work on the scope of improving safety in the maritime sector.
