Ramy Bakir has been teaching at the Faculty of Engineering at AASTMT Cairo, Sheraton Branch since 2005. He is currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Architectural Engineering and Environmental Design at AASTMT, Cairo, Egypt. He also had held an Adjunct Teaching Assistant position in a design course in the American University in Cairo in the period between 2010 and 2014. Ramy Bakir has received his BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees from Ain Shams University (ASU), Cairo, Egypt. Throughout his 15 years of practicing and teaching design he has contributed to many design projects in Egypt and the Middle East by collaborating with several architectural design consultants in Egypt and aboard. He managed more than 100 projects as Design Principal at the ASAS the Egyptian based design firm which he cofounded in 2009. He has instructed 5 courses where he experimented with students in research, design, building and presenting creative and innovative ideas. Since 2004 He has conducted several empirical studies and has published several papers focusing on the situated design process in architectural practice and pedagogy, and the influence technology has on design students and architects.
