Description/Outcomes	This course is a part of “Biomolecule Activity Cluster”. It introduces the aspects of mammalian biochemistry and metabolism. It discusses the biochemical processes pertinent to carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleotides, as well as any related abnormalities and potential sites for medication action. The scientific basis of these processes is provided at the molecular level enabling the students to begin to understand the pathophysiological basis of metabolic disorders and orient them towards the application of knowledge acquired in solving clinical problems. In addition, the course offers some of the knowledge required to understand the mechanism of action of some drugs. Case discussions and presentations are used to introduce the students to these concepts.
arabic Description/Outcomes	هذا المنهج هو جزء من "مجموعة نشاط الجزيئات الحيوية". فهو يقدم جوانب الكيمياء الحيوية والتمثيل الغذائي للثدييات. ويناقش العمليات الكيميائية الحيوية ذات الصلة بالكربوهيدرات، الدهون، البروتينات، والنيوكليوتيدات، فضلا عن أي تشوهات ذات الصلة والمواقع والاماكن المحتملة لعمل الدواء. الأساس العلمي لهذه العمليات المقدمة على المستوى الجزيئي يتيح للطلاب للبدء في فهم أساس المرضية في جسم المريض من اضطرابات التمثيل الغذائي وتوجيهها نحو تطبيق المعرفة المكتسبة في حل المشاكل السريرية. وبالإضافة إلى ذلك يقدم بعض المعارف اللازمة لفهم آلية عمل بعض الأدوية. ويتم فى هذا المقرر مناقشات للحالات وعرض المقرر باستخدام الحاسب الالى لتعريف الطلاب هذه المفاهيم.
