| Description/Outcomes | This course provides the students with a comprehensive overview of the chemistry of biomolecules. Structure, stereochemistry, properties, and cellular and body distribution of carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, proteins, and nucleic acids are discussed within the context of their biological . Structural aberrations and/or modifications leading to disease conditions or therapeutic utility are also discussed. A series of practical exercises are used to provide the student with a hands-on approach to reinforce learning of the properties of the compound classes studies. |
