The Cultural and Social Activities Department at Abu Qir organized a special humanitarian celebration on the occasion of Orphan's Day, also known as "Mercy Day," on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Miami branch. This event reflects the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport's commitment to strengthening its community role and instilling the values of solidarity and giving.
The event welcomed a large number of children, with the branch decorated to receive them in a joyful festive atmosphere. The program included numerous recreational activities and interactive segments designed to bring happiness to the children, along with breakfast and lunch, and the distribution of various gifts. This demonstrates the Academy's dedication to supporting vulnerable groups and integrating them into meaningful community activities.
The celebration was organized in accordance with the directives of Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Academy, and with the support of the Deanship of Student Affairs, headed by Professor Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Abu El-Azm. The event also saw active participation from various departments within the Academy, showcasing a collaborative effort and a strong team spirit. The Nutrition, Security, Maintenance, and Logistics departments, along with the teams from the Cultural and Social Activities Department at the Abu Qir and Miami branches, contributed to the success of the event, ensuring it reflected the academy's prestigious standing. All necessary resources were provided to guarantee the children's comfort and safety throughout the celebration.
The event also witnessed outstanding student participation, most notably through entertaining performances and appearances by cartoon characters, which brought smiles to the children's faces. Furthermore, the event benefited from fruitful collaboration with supporting community organizations that contributed gifts and meals, thus strengthening effective community partnerships.
This event aligns with the Deanship of Student Affairs' strategy to support activities with a humanitarian and community dimension, and to cultivate student awareness of the importance of volunteer work, in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals and reinforcing the academy's role as a leading educational institution with a positive social impact.
