The Cultural and Social Activities Department at Abu Qir University organized a distinguished scientific trip for students of the Marine Engineering and Platforms Department to the Ma'asara Shipyard on Thursday, April 9, 2026. This trip was part of the department's efforts to support the practical aspects of the educational process and strengthen students' connection to their fields of specialization.
The visit aimed to introduce students to the history of the shipyard and its vital role in shipbuilding and maintenance. It also provided an opportunity to learn about the latest technologies used in this sector and to familiarize them with spare parts and essential components related to shipbuilding, thus contributing to the development of their technical skills and broadening their practical knowledge.
The trip was supervised by Professor Dr. Ahmed Samir, Head of the Department, who accompanied the students throughout the visit and provided the necessary scientific explanations, enhancing the academic benefit of the trip and bridging the gap between theoretical study and practical application. The trip also included a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, giving students the opportunity to explore one of Egypt's most prominent cultural and historical landmarks. This experience enhanced their cultural and historical awareness and fostered a balance between scientific and cultural aspects in their personal development. This trip comes within the framework of the ongoing cooperation between the Deanship of Student Affairs, headed by Professor Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Abu Al-Azm, and the scientific departments in the various colleges of the Academy, in implementation of the vision and directives of Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag - President of the Academy, which aims to support purposeful student activities, and develop students’ capabilities in line with the requirements of the labor market and contribute to achieving the goals of sustainable development.
