Major General Mahmoud Nafeh, Chairman of the Alexandria Sanitary Drainage Company, paid an official visit to Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport.
The visit aimed to explore avenues of collaboration between the two institutions in the fields of laboratories, scientific and technical training, support for the Alexandria Sanitary Drainage Company’s research units, and the promotion of governmental excellence.
Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar commended the Alexandria Sanitary Drainage Company for its effective response to crises and heavy rainfall, as well as its significant performance improvements in recent years. He expressed his strong support for the company’s vision and its commitment to sustaining high-quality services.
He also emphasized the importance of implementing the recommendations of the conference titled “Sustainability of the National Industry in the Water and Sanitation Sector,” held on February 26 of this year. The conference aimed to support and localize national industries and services in the water and sanitation field, while discussing viable Egyptian and European technological and industrial solutions to address pollution caused by industrial wastewater. It also addressed the challenges facing water and sanitation service providers, particularly private sector companies operating in the sector.
Major General Mahmoud Nafeh expressed the Alexandria Sanitary Drainage Company’s eagerness to strengthen its partnership with the Arab Academy, describing it as a beacon of knowledge and a hub of national expertise. He highlighted the Academy’s consistent efforts to keep pace with the latest international scientific and technological advancements and its role in delivering high-quality education and training to develop outstanding professionals who can enhance the sustainability and quality of public services.
He further stressed the importance of adopting institutional excellence principles and applying global best practices in governmental performance, modernizing existing processes and systems through smart technologies, and effectively implementing future visions and strategies.
Additionally, he underscored the critical role of scientific research in enhancing operational performance, localizing modern technologies, reducing capital investment costs for projects, and identifying practical solutions to challenges hindering sanitation operations—particularly in optimizing wastewater treatment methods.
Major General Nafeh extended his sincere gratitude for the warm reception and expressed optimism about achieving tangible and positive outcomes from the collaboration.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties exchanged commemorative shields in recognition of their partnership.
