The Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport Hosts a Chinese Delegation at the Smart Village to Explore Joint Cooperation Opportunities
On Monday, January 16, 2023, His Excellency Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AAST), welcomed Mr. Zhang Hua Xing, the Scientific and Technological Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, along with an accompanying delegation from the embassy at AAST's Smart Village campus.
The meeting discussed areas of mutual cooperation, focusing on artificial intelligence applications, satellite navigation, smart technologies, and the Internet of Things in fields such as agriculture, aquaculture, and water conservation. The discussions emphasized the potential for enhanced collaboration between AAST and the Chinese side.
The attendees reviewed various college specialties and discussed several joint agreements, including the ongoing collaboration under the China-Arab Technology Transfer Center. Established at AAST's Smart Village branch as part of a 2015 agreement during the China-Arab Expo, this center facilitates technology transfer between China and Arab countries.
The Chinese delegation expressed admiration for AAST's advanced facilities, and Dr. Abdel Ghaffar extended an invitation for them to visit AAST’s main campus in Abu Qir, as well as the campuses in Alamein and Aswan.
